A €12 million waste processing plant was launched in Zhytomyr.

Starting in 2024, a waste recycling plant began operating in Zhytomyr as an experiment. This plant was built and equipped at the expense of a private investor. The plant cleans, sorts and processes waste into biofuel.

At the moment, the plant can process up to 15 tons of waste every hour. The biofuel produced is already being used by Kamianets-Podilskyi, Ivano-Frankivsk and Zdolbuniv cement plants.

The total investment in the construction and equipment of the plant amounted to €12 million.

According to Pavel Furman, the plant’s chief engineer, only one technological line of joint Croatian-Ukrainian production is currently in operation for waste recycling. However, by the end of the year, it is planned to install lines for plastic and wood recycling.

“We are planning to install additional lines and modernize the plant. Over the next two months, we will install additional equipment that will allow us to process up to 20-22 tons per hour,” he explained.
