Ukrainian agriholdings are actively modernizing their infrastructure and optimizing logistics to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
Agro-Region has managed to reduce its grain and oilseed transportation costs by 30% by building its own fleet of 40 grain carriers, 25 of which were purchased under the USAID grant program. The main logistics of the agricultural holding is based on rail and road transportation to ports, from where the grain is exported by sea. The company’s own railcar fleet has significantly reduced dependence on third-party carriers and increased control over delivery times.
Adelaide, in cooperation with Ukreximbank and USAID, has opened a modern potato storage facility in Zhytomyr region that can store up to 10,000 tons of produce. In addition to storage, there is a processing shop where potatoes are peeled and packed in vacuum packages. This innovation extends the shelf life of the products and creates added value, which contributes to the development of both the local economy and the company’s overall competitiveness.
In Odesa region, Agrain Agro Holding has modernized the Service Grain elevator complex by laying a 200-meter railway line to it. This solution allows the company to ship up to 30 grain cars per day, significantly reducing costs and time of delivery to ports. In addition, to increase throughput, three units were installed to receive grain from trucks, including large trucks up to 20 meters long. The complex is now capable of receiving up to 1,700 tons of grain per day, and its storage capacity has reached 100,000 tons, making it an important grain storage and transshipment center in the region.
All of these projects demonstrate how the proper use of investments, modernization of logistics and infrastructure contribute to the efficiency of the agricultural sector. Such measures not only reduce costs but also strengthen companies’ positions in international markets.
