A large-scale opera and ballet festival “Velvet Season at the Odessa Opera” will take place in Odessa on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of Ukraine’s Independence.
The festival will last from August 22 to September 15, 2021 at the Odessa National Academic Opera and Ballet Theater.
The concert, which opened the festival, was attended by famous Ukrainian singers working in Ukraine and European countries, as well as invited guests from Moldova, Belarus, Latvia and the Czech Republic.
At the festival you can also get to the ballet gala concert Classic & Modern “Odessa. Ukraine. Europe” in the open air on the Theater Square.
The premiere of the opera “Bolero” by Maurice Ravel with the participation of Odessa ballet stars and invited world-renowned ballet performers is waiting for the audience.
The final project of the festival will be a symphony concert conducted by world-famous conductor Oksana Liniv.
800 artists of modern Ukrainian and world opera and ballet theater plan to take part in the festival.
“It was extremely interesting to work on the creation of such a program. After all, the festival content will present a wide range of styles and genres – from the origins of Ukrainian melody to its modern sound, from world musical heritage to national heritage,” said the festival’s musical director, Yecheslav Chernukho-Volich.
