For the first time, Ivano-Frankivsk will host original works of art by Taras Shevchenko. They will be demonstrated during the exhibition “True Shevchenko”, which will open on October 26. The museum will present more than 30 works illustrating different periods of the artist’s life.



Visitors will be able to see the most famous paintings of Shevchenko “Katerina”, “Peasant Family”, “Odalisque” and self-portraits. Also present a portrait of VA Zhukovsky brush by Karl Bryullov, for the sale of which the poet was bought from serfdom.

“He is a master of contemporary criticism, color and architectural landscapes of topographic accuracy. He painted in oil, watercolor, sepia, ink, lead pencil on mythological, historical and everyday themes, architectural and landscape landscapes. And he became the founder of realism in Ukrainian fine arts “, – it is noted in the announcement of the exhibition.

The exhibition will consist of more than 30 works illustrating different periods of the artist’s life: pre-academic time, studies at the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts, short trips to Ukraine and work in the Kiev Archaeological Commission, long years of exile and the last years of life in St. Petersburg.

The opening of the exhibition will take place on Tuesday, October 26, at 11:00. Entrance at the price of an entrance ticket to the museum.
