The United Kingdom is preparing to surprise the world community and contribute to Ukraine’s technological development by announcing the transfer of the world’s largest batch of drones.
These are reconnaissance, strike, and maritime drones. Most of the drones will be manufactured in the UK, and the Ministry of Defense will cooperate with international partners to increase the number of drones provided to Ukraine.
This defines a new stage in the strategic partnership between the two countries, which strengthens technology transfer and promotes the development of the defense industry in Ukraine.
“These technologies will provide Ukraine with advanced, battle-tested capabilities to protect its citizens and defend itself against Russian forces invading by land and sea. This will be the largest delivery of drones to Ukraine from any country,” the statement said.
The UK will also increase military aid to Ukraine to $3.2 billion in the 2024/25 fiscal year. It is specified that the amount is almost $255 million more than the amount allocated to help the Ukrainian side in the previous two years.
“The funding will help to leverage the UK’s best military expertise and defense products to ensure Ukraine’s victory on the battlefield, including critical areas such as long-range missiles, air defense, artillery munitions and maritime security,” the statement said.
In addition, the government adds that British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak will announce another $23 million in aid to Ukraine during his visit to Kyiv, on top of the nearly $435 million already provided.
“Part of this funding will go to support organizations such as the UN and the Red Cross to provide humanitarian assistance on the front line, and £8 million will go to strengthening Ukraine’s energy infrastructure against further Russian attacks,” the statement said.
